PRESENTS
SECRETS OF THE ICE CAPS
Who is in charge of the global thermostat?
MR. DON WATT
September 25 & 26, 2008 at 7:00 PM
What’s coming next—Global warming? Global cooling? Is man and his use of fossil
fuels responsible for the temperature rise observed in the first half of the
20th century? Is it possible to look back in time and see if similar or even
greater warming periods as well as extreme cold have occurred in the past? Do
the ice core records taken from the vast storehouses of snow and ice in
Greenland and Antarctica hold the secrets that can answer these important
questions?
Data from the ice cores along with historical
records reveal the impact that changing climates have had on the rise & fall of
nations. The impact of climate change related to famines and the outbreak of
pandemic plagues will also be presented.
